Well hi,
Our wepay.com account is up and running. We now have means to take donations without cash being dropped off at camp. Cash donations can still be made at camp but I'm going to suggest we discourage it UNLESS we get a locked donation box that can be bolted down to the Info Booth cart or something. There is no way to determine who accepts donations without ONE consistent contact person there during the day. That person has been me in the past. I'm still looking to job share my spot at camp but have had no success finding a replacement. Anyone with the luxury of being unemployed can contact me to find out what's entailed.
Here's how the wepay.com thing went:
I created a savings account at Missoula Federal Credit Union that is attached to my regular account. (Don't panic - transparency will be obvious before you're done reading.)
The savings account is clearly titled OCCUPY MISSOULA.
I requested that wepay.com verify the account by making 2 small micro-deposits into the account because I wanted to be certain that there was NO POSSIBILITY that any donation would be deposited into my personal savings or checking account.
When I logged on this morning there were indeed micro-deposits (in the form of .55 cents, in the OCCUPY MISSOULA savings account. No deposits were made into my personal account.
All donations will be tracked on our wepay.com page (www.wepay.com/donations/occupymissoula) and can be easily matched to the deposits made into the savings account so that no one will worry that I've run off to Tahiti with the spoils. (More's the pity - I think OCCUPY TAHITI sounds lovely!)
If the group opens an account of its own I believe it will be less than 5 minutes work to change the account number on the wepay.com page and confirm it with their customer service dept.
I will print a weekly or monthly balance sheet for anyone to see and track the donation deposits and include it in the finance report that will be offered up on the 5th of every month. I will also post it here or where ever y'all want to see it.

We are Occupy Missoula - the Missoula, MT installation of Occupy Wall Street. We have been actively occupying the Missoula County Courthouse Lawn since Saturday, 8 October 2011. By occupying public space we are exercising our constitutional right to peacefully assemble. It is our belief that the use of consensus building, non-violent approaches to engaging in the world and thoughtful acts of civil disobedience can and will enact wide spread change.
The Occupy Wall Street movement is a powerful, leaderless resistance comprised of people of many colors, genders and political persuasions. No one group is "in charge" of the movement and no one ideology is an over-arching theme. We are a group that does not discount the power of each individual, and individuals that recognize the strength of a group acting with conscience. Among the concepts the participants have in common is the belief that 99% of the population should no longer tolerate the class warfare, greed, corruption, manipulation or political and social control of the 1%. The Occupation movement empowers real people to create real change from the bottom up.
Occupy Missoula collect donations to cover the costs of community education, direct action outreach, Occupy Missoula events and encampment expenses. All donations go directly to Occupy Missoula.

Hi all, Just so you know, I did the due diligence thingy and looked up who is behind wepay and I'm sure there are other connections. This is just superficial (for transparency sake) and you might wanna take a gander at wepay.com terms of service. We pay can withhold your money for a number of reasons determined by them. We pay can "assign" another administrator to your account. We pay must release your information to the feds etc ... Who is behind we pay??? We pay runs ALL its transaction through Bancorp Bank. Andrew S. Rappaport en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_S._RappaportDavid Marquardt en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_MarquardtMax Levchin en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Vkbeall#Max_Levchin_invests_in_WePayNeed I say more?

First, Go to Missoula Fed CU and tell them what you are doing and ask if there is some way that people could donate to Occupy Missoula directly through them. If not maybe a local bank. We need to go as close to home as possible. Honestly, we pay sucks! thanks, Rick

BTW: I think local people will appreciate this, much more than using something like paypal or wepay or any of the big payment processors ...

Rick, instead of just telling people what they should or shouldn't do, you could show up at the GA and/or get involved with the finance workgroups and be part of the process.
While you have some points about WePay, their are problems with direct donations to the CU. And we don't have a CU account yet, though there are people looking into if and how we could get one.
In the meantime, people need food and heating supplies. Waiting to figure out the most PC way of doing it leaves people in a lurch.

All 10 fingers waving in the air! This applies to us all folks! It's easy to criticize, or get hurt feelings when our "suggestions" aren't immediately seized upon and acted on, but this is a process, and it requires that we DO STUFF. No hired folk to take care of the business, no "elections" once a year, after which we can sit back and b!t@h about what the figureheads are doing wrong. This is a participatory democracy: without participation, nothing gets done -Kim

I am with the finance group, we are as Jim said trying to get a system together. I did call MFCU and requested info. She said she needed to check into it and call me back she never did. She also mentioned to open an account we needed a tax id #, which in turn opens a whole new load of B.S. to figure out. So it is a work in progress. I personally have limited time due to my work schedule to figure all of this out. So I will do my best and would love help. -Casey

Hi all, I appreciate the responses and Nan and I will be there with you as soon as we can. We are in WA. state right now and have family problems as my sisters grandson Channon (14 y.o.) committed suicide last Friday the 18th. The people in the know say that holidays are the most likely time for kids to do this .. but my family is at a loss, right now. The services are being set for next week, but we have no idea if we'll be back in Missoula during the holidays. Please understand that we support you one and all and that I only brought the information on wepay forward, so people are aware that the powers that be are behind and controlling wepay. Forewarned is forearmed, they say. I try to stay up with everything that going on and most usually can be found and messaged on FB (sorry) www.facebook.com/freegold ... In solidarity and peace, Rick

Hi all....
If it helps...the donations we get actually end up at MFCU. That's where my savings account is so....
