Proposal: For proposal 11/13/11, Sunday GA As a part of: Facilitation & Communication Groups RE: Structure of Sunday General Assemblies & DiscussionsProposal (see attached word doc): "At the first GAs we followed a consensus model structure which we are still following but not in any formal sense. As a result, the process is sometime lost and therefore the democracy of the model is threatened, as some discussions take up the entire meeting and other people’s voices or concerns are not heard. To maintain the democratic structure of the consensus model, I propose that as OM we formally adopt and agree to work within the following guidelines (attached file) for organization of the Sunday General Assemblies. This structure can be modified for the weekday assemblies as well." I propose that we discuss and develop this document during the Communications group meeting this weekend, and have copies of a first draft available to hand out at the GA on Sunday. I would also like to work on other written organizational/structural outlines as a joint effort between the facilitation and communication work groups, e.g. a simple outline of how to start a work group.

are you sure the facilitation meeting is at the union hall? they have always been at the encampment at noon. changing it in this manner, this short of notice is sure to confuse a lot of folks who will go to different places.

We had the meeting at union hall because we were not sure of the status of the camp at the courthouse and because there are not generally very many people meeting these days for the facilitation meetings. I'm sorry if we confused anyone! Everyone is welcome and encouraged to be involved. I will try to make sure to have information about facilitation work group meetings posted at the info booth prior to those meetings going forward.

hey all, (and this first part to brooklyn), i don't know how for sure to get on 'stack' at a GA from here/proboards since we never know who will facilitate the next GA meeting.....how about coming to the 12:00 sunday facilitation meeting and be sure your concern gets on the agenda? that's an approach i may take. and if you go to the pre-GA forum at 1:00 i bet it can be added to the agenda. perhaps you truly are alone with your blocking concern, but i wonder if posting your concern here would bring it to a conversation and someone else might find it as their concern too and bring it to the sunday GA if you can't make it to the meeting? we are many voices, our road is cold, busy and bumpy, unpaved, with lots of highs and lows. our process is tough.... we should expect it to be tough. assume things will change. stop frequently for a moment to consider it all. model openness and the willingness for compromise. and most of all.....remember to breath often. ~~becca
