II. Work Group Reports
a. Communications. Objectives of the work group: communicate internal structure, and perform outreach especially in support of those events put out by the direct action working groups. Next meeting: Sat 11/26 the Break Espresso.
b. Encampment & Logistics: Individual raised $425 in funding through personal resources. $100 went directly to the camp for camp needs, the rest went towards purchase of the military tent now standing at the encampment. Still owe $275 for the tent. Payments owed. Little tents set up inside the big tent, winter shelter secured.
Intoxicated/belligerent people still a problem. Police dropped off someone a the camp yesterday who fit this description, that person immediately entered the camp and started trouble. Taryn was there and questioned the officer for badge number and name, and then followed up by contacting the chief of police. [Update: An emailed report from the police chief is available, email occupymissoula@gmail.com for that report] Need propane, will post list of camp needs on the proboards. Camp council meets every Tuesday and Thursday morning. In response to a member’s question, there are currently 5 people staying at the camp.
Addendum from member: there are donation cans set up at several businesses and a donation info flier at Jimmy Johns.
c. Direct Action: A direct action work group sign up sheet was passed around. To get involved please see Melissa, or for the Occupy our Homes Direct Action Group, see Rebecca.
d. Occupy and the Houseless Work Group: No fixed meeting time yet, working on phone list. See Curtis to help out.
e. Development/Teach-ins: See Kim or go the proboards thread at occupymissoula.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=dtw.

Thursdays at 5:30p UC Commons Area, Transition Towns.
f. Facilitation: Meeting at noon prior to Sunday GAs to plan agenda and arrange facilitation team. Please join, everyone is welcome.
g. Finance: In info gathering stage right now, exploring how to get donations, where to put the $, eg bank account for occupy. Talked to credit union but nothing arranged yet, 501c3 organization? Major decisions will be run through the GA once things are set up. A sign up sheet was passed around, more people needed to ensure transparency. Will arrange a time to meet regularly and figure out means of communication (proboards, email, etc). Carson had the previous financial information but cannot be reached right now (new job). For donation in the immediate future, talk to Taryn. Legal responsibility so can serve as provisional keeper of the funds until further arrangements are made.
h. NEW WORK GROUPS: Look for more info at the proboards and the info booth soon or next GA!
i. University Work Group: Occupy the Oval’s University work group reported actions they are spearheading and requested the support of the Sunday GA and the encampment in their efforts. GAs are every Friday at noon at the UC Occupy Tent. The Tent is set up in the UC Atrium and serves as a gathering place and for holding meetings. They are working to gain access to work rooms at the university. There will be a march on Monday 11/21 at 4pm, responding to media blackouts, gathering in front of the KECI building. They are also participating in the food bank Thanksgiving food drive at the fairgrounds. Also organizing food to go to the camp on Thanksgiving, Brooklyn’s mom on that, you can take food to her house and she will bring it down to the camp on T-day. The UC group wants to sell pies as a fundraiser, anyone who wants to make pies to contribute to that fundraiser see the UC group. To learn more about the UC group, go tot eh UC Atrium Occupation Tent, or for more info about any and all of these actions see Brooklyn.
III. Discussion: Proposals & General Matters
(Note: Proposals are taken down verbatim. Discussion is paraphrased. I’m human, couldn’t write down & transcribe every detail. If I missed something, please add your thoughts by replying to this posting on the proboards. )
Proposals: As no proposals came out of the working groups, the GA went straight to discussion.
Discussion: A member suggested inviting city officials (the mayor, city council, chief of police) to the GA, as a way to respond to the police events this week at the camp and to show them the movement. There was about 20 minutes of discussion around this, and a work group formed for people who want to go to city council meetings. A sign up sheet went around for people to join that work group. (It was consensed) that people can do any direct action and say anything they want as a member of the 99%, but they should not speak for or on behalf of the 99%. Thus, anyone who wants to go to the city council meeting please go! Just be aware of how you state your affiliation with Occupy, so that it is always understood you are a member of but not a spokesperson for the movement. A flier was distributed from members of the communications group that attempts to speak generally for OM as a whole; per these GA discussions, a revised flier will be posted on the proboards for anyone to download which has a line stating it is one voice from the movement, so that it will not be interpreted as speaking for all of the 99%. [Update: the revised flier is posted here: occupymissoula.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=225&page=1#803. Further discussion: one member said we can access recording equipment form MCAT to record the GAs. Another asked that when people are speaking a the GA that that person stand up and speak loudly to ensure everyone is included in the discussion, including those who cannot hear as well as others. Using direct response was mentioned (pointed fingers hand wave). Methods of improving the facilitation and stack process will be considered in the next facilitator meeting. Suggested: a legal education workshop/training.
IV. Next GAs:
Tuesday , 11/22: Encampment, 5pm. (Note: consideration of changing to later in the week in future requested by a member)
Sunday 11/27: Union Hall, 2pm.
Friday, 11/25: UC Atrium, Occupation Tent.
An open forum will be held prior to every Sunday GA from 1pm to 2pm. Discussion will be open to all and focus on ideas and strategies for shaping the future of this movement. Everyone is welcome!
