I saw Occupy the Hood had created street teams to go the street and talk to people, educate, inform and ask for support.. What do we think of this idea?

Yeah, I would like to see us moving out of Downtown to some of our more overlooked areas of town. I suggest sending a "clean up team over to the West end of town,` between Russell and Reserve and 3rd and South Ave. That's a good working class neighborhood where we might find a lot of support, but not necessarily people who would come to a protest on their own. I'd also thought of moving the camp to different parts of town, making it a kind of travelling road show, going from one park to the next every couple of weeks. Spreading the love around a little, ya know? I bet we could even get the city to go along with it, if we presented it in the right way: firmly but nicely

I'm not formally a member of the direct action working group, but I would definitely be interested in a clean up team sort of outreach (assuming we mean 'clean up team' literally here). I was unable to attend the take out the trash march, unfortunately, but if there's anything along those lines again, I will try and get out to take part. I think actually doing something immediately useful to improve someone's living conditions is a good way to reach out and encourage them to step up as well.
